- On certain days St. Peter’s Basilica may be closed due to religious ceremonies. On those days it will not be possible to visit the Basilica and there will be an extended tour of the museums and the Sistine Chapel instead From March 1st till the 15th of November, the pope appears in St. Peter’s Square every Wednesday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The doors of the Sistine Chapel leading to St. Peter’s Basilica will remain closed until 1:00 PM and therefore St. Peter’s Basilica is not part of the Itinerary on Wednesdays
