Description
A water journey that combines movement, historical storytelling, and environmental observation, away from the busiest routes.
The activity starts with a brief practical introduction to safety and basic paddling techniques. Even if you've never used a kayak, you'll get step-by-step instructions to help you navigate in a simple, controlled way.
You'll start from the shore of the lake in Via Spiaggia del Lago. From here, you'll follow an itinerary designed to alternate naturalistic stretches and points of historical interest visible only from the water.
While navigating, you can observe:
the ancient submerged stilt houses of the so-called Village of the Mills
the port structures linked to the Roman villas that overlooked the lake
the outline of the summer papal residence, with historical notes on the ancient naumachia
natural areas accessible only by water, habitat of protected lake species
In the warmer months, there's a break in a small area accessible only by kayak, where you can relax and, if conditions allow, take a swim.
The experience is shared, with small groups, and keeps a calm pace. By the end of the tour, you'll have gained more confidence in kayaking and a deeper insight into the history and ecosystem of the lake.
