Description
Castel Sant'Angelo, also known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian, is located in Parco Adriano, Rome. The fortress spans five floors and features a collection of weapons alongside Renaissance frescoes.
The castle was originally commissioned by Emperor Hadrian and completed between 135 and 139 AD. Later, the Papal state converted it into a defensive stronghold and refuge for popes starting from the 14th century. Visitors can learn about the inmates who were imprisoned there and their fates.
