My mom and a couple stayed here during the extension portion of our cruise in Fall 2024. As the other reviewers have mentioned, this hotel is indeed centrally located in Rome and within walking distance to many sites: Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and more! This is an historic hotel that has been in continual operation for many years. I really liked the fact that they have modernized it but still retain it's old-world look. The service what's excellent from both the front desk and the bag boy. Additionally, this was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had at any hotel. I couldn't believe how fresh the ingredients were! My only reason for docking this one star was due to our room showing signs of past water damage as the wall was bowing near the front door. You could tell that they had tried to patch it up the best they could, but this was nonetheless a sign of water damage. If ever I should be back in Rome, I would consider staying here again. Our stay here was wonderful. Clean and comfortable rooms with fresh and bright decor. Excellent air conditioning in the rooms for the hot summer months. Comfortable beds and very high quality bedding fabrics. Classy marble bathrooms with fantastic showers! The staff is very friendly and polite, although very reserved and professional which we respected. When in Rome, we will return!
The breakfast staff nearly killed my mother! My mother has several life threatening allergies, and so we made sure to write out the translation of everything she's allergic to in Italian and even include pictures, on a little card. When we went to breakfast on our first day, my mother asked the blonde woman working the breakfast buffet if any of the foods contained things she was allergic to, and gave her the card. The woman skimmed the card fast, went into the back, and handed my mother some pre-packaged gluten free items saying "It's okay! It's okay!". Thankfully we didn't take her at her word and double checked the ingredients - they all contained things my mother is deadly allergic to!! When we confronted her with that fact, she skimmed the card again quickly, waved once at the baked goods in the buffet and said "No, no", then handed the card back and went to go ask someone else if they wanted a cappuccino. Every single other restaurant and hotel we've dined or stayed at in our week in Italy was handed that same card, and they all took the time to check ingredients or were happy to ask the chef in the back for clarification. Yet here, despite being told these were serious allergies, and being handed an Italian translation, with pictures, I guess this woman thought all allergies = gluten free and did not seem to care at all! They have little cards next to the food that mark some common allergens you'll find in the items, but if you have an allergy thats not on their list, it seems that to the breakfast staff, serving a cup of coffee is more important than your life. Seperate from that, the Do Not Disturb sign is digital, and tied to the power in your room that needs an inserted key card to work. There isn't anything you can hang on your door. We had turned the Do Not Disturb on before we left for the day, but because we took our key out (since, yknow, you need it to get back in your room when you return), the maid came in and cleaned the room when we did not want her to, moving items around we had deliberately left in certain spots. We had to make up and tape a paper Do Not Disturb sign to the door for the rest of our stay. (So I guess if you're in a room alone and only have one key you just can't ever have Do Not Disturb on when you leave the room?) The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars and not negative 1 is the fact that the location was good (5 min walk from a Metro stop, 7 min walk to the Trevi Fountain) and rest of the staff was lovely. The two girls at the front desk were always nice, gave us good restaurant recommendations, and even hailed us taxis using their personal accounts on their phones when the hotel internet was having issues. The young man with the curly hair who worked the rooftop bar was also very nice.
Was only here for one night during a long trip but it was a good experience. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooftop bar is always a good thing. Their breakfast is included and actually good, with great coffee service. Rooms were clean and great for the one night.
The hotel staff were amazing! They gave us great recommendations for restaurants and a food tour. Il Giardino was our favorite restaurant. Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato had the best gelato and chocolates. The food tour with Ilaria Roefaro was amazing and we'd highly recommend using her! The rooftop view is a must!
