Description

Begin your journey at a welcoming rural property in the Sabina region, where you will meet your hosts and their trained English Cocker Spaniel truffle dogs while enjoying a traditional Italian coffee. Here, you will be introduced to the history and cultural significance of truffle hunting, a practice passed down through generations. From there, venture into the surrounding forests and rolling hills, where the experience truly comes to life. Walk alongside an experienced local truffle hunter and observe the unique bond between handler and dog as they search for the delicate aroma hidden beneath the earth. Discover how truffles grow in their natural environment, how the dogs are trained to detect them, and why this rare ingredient has earned its name as “white gold” in Italian culinary culture. As you explore, your guide will share insights into the ecosystem, seasonal varieties of truffles, and the traditions that define life in this region. After the hunt, return to the countryside house for a relaxed aperitivo featuring local specialties. The experience continues with a countryside lunch inspired by the truffles of the season, highlighting fresh and authentic ingredients.
