Start with pickup from your hotel and travel to the Vatican, where you will meet your guide and start the tour with the embrace of Bernini’s curved, immense colonnades of St. Peter’s Square and the view of the Pope’s Balcony. Enter St. Peter’s Basilica, the world’s largest Church, to admire Michelangelo’s “Pietà” and other highlights. The car will wait outside to bring you to the Vatican Museums overflowing with masterpieces by many of Italy’s most famous Italian artists. Renaissance and Baroque masters sit alongside important works from Ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. Walk through favorite galleries such as the tapestries and maps ones. Discover the secrets of The Sistine Chapel, with its enormous Michelangelo frescoes. Here you will have time to observe the details of his sublime “Last Judgment.” Continue by car to the preserved Arch of Constantine, next to the famous Colosseum. Then, walk in the footsteps of Roman Emperors through the Roman Forum. Thanks to your guide’s explanations, you will be able to imagine their triumphal processions and public speeches. Stop at The Arch of Titus on Palatine Hill. Wander through the site and get a sense of its former glory and importance to the Roman Empire. Now it is time to rest in a selected restaurant where you will enjoy a typical meal of an Italian starter and pasta. After lunch, your driver will drop you off back at your hotel or wherever in the city center. IMPORTANT NOTE: On Sundays and religious holidays, the Vatican is closed. An alternative tour runs on those days. Explore St. Peter's Square, the Castel Sant' Angelo area, and other marvelous sites like Capitoline Hill with your guide and driver.
