Description

begins early in Rome where you'll board a comfortable private mini bus to make the most of your time in Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Arriving at Pompeii, you'll meet your expert archaeologist guide for an in-depth tour of the ancient ruins. You and your small group of 18 people maximum will explore this once-thriving Roman city, perfectly preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. You’ll walk the same streets that Romans once did in silence before the daytime crowds arrive, peeking into shops, temples, and even a brothel—each frozen in time. You'll also see the House of the Vetti, an incredibly preserved house recently reopened after years of restoration. The second part of your day trip includes a scenic drive along the Amalfi Coast, widely regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular stretches of coastline, straight to Positano (tours from April through October). Your group of max 18 people fits comfortably in a mini bus that can navigate the hairpin turns. This means you'll save time on the trip to Positano compared to larger tour groups that need to switch to smaller vehicles to traverse the road. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of turquoise seas, towering cliffs, and colorful villages that cling to the hillsides. The highlight of this portion of the tour is a stop in Positano, where you’ll have 2 hours of free time to explore the pastel-colored resort town perched on the cliffs that has inspired legendary writers such as Shelley, Goethe, and Steinbeck. After an introduction from your guide, with some tips on where to eat lunch and shop, you’ll have a few hours of free time to do as you please before the journey back to Rome. By the end of the day, you’ll be back on the private, air-conditioned bus for a comfortable ride back to Rome, arriving in time for dinner. You'll be filled with memories of a day packed with ancient history, natural beauty, and southern Italian charm. This tour combines a perfectly planned itinerary, scenic beauty, and expert storytelling, making it the ideal way to experience Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast in one unforgettable day. Please note: In the low season (Nov through Mar), most of the businesses in Positano town close. During this time, we will visit Sorrento instead, where you'll have plenty of options for lunch and shopping. The order of the itinerary may be reversed, with some tours visiting the Amalfi Coast in the morning and Pompeii in the afternoon. No matter where you go first, you'll still enjoy a relaxing and seamless day trip. This tour combines early entry, scenic beauty, and expert storytelling, making it the perfect way to experience Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast in one unforgettable day. Please note: In the low season (November through March), most of the businesses in Positano town close, making the town rather uneventful to visit. During this time, we will visit Sorrento instead, where you'll have plenty of options for lunch and shopping.
